Branding Pittsburgh’s largest fashion show with a diverse creative team.

As a member of the Lunar Gala 2024 print team, I worked alongside a team of 8 to create the brand guidelines, posters, show booklet, and apparel for Pittsburgh’s largest annual fashion show. Lunar Gala is student run Carnegie Mellon organization that showcases the work of student fashion designers, dancers, and sound designers.  I worked under the creative department in the print team; we collaborated with web, motion, and photography teams for cohesion across all design materials.

Brand GuidelinesThe core of our design system was an 8 column grid to reflect the structure of liminal spaces like a hallway or doorway. The 8 column grid was used for the grid of each spread of the booklet,  website pages,  posters, and the stage design.

Posters

To highlight each fashion line featured in the show, we created a poster for each line to be displayed around campus.

Booklet

Each attendee received a booklet day of show. Each clothing line had a spread in the booklet highlighting the designer’s inspiration for the line and photographs of the pieces.

Merchandise

We created two t-shirts, one in black for the Lunar Gala team and one in white to be sold at the show. The Lunar Gala team walked the runway in these shirts at the end of the show.

Reflection

I learned so much through working with this incredible team over the course of the year. As a freshman, it was so inspiring to collaborate with upperclassmen, learn about their design process, and get a glimpse of how design functions within a larger organization. The designs my team created were used by the rest of the creative team including the website and motion graphics, and I was able to learn about communicating across such a large team and ensuring a cohesive brand identity while working with so many creatives.
